Although the weather is anything but summery or even spring like, this Thursday sees the first of our evening summer walks. While conditions everywhere are extremely wet and muddy, the following route isn’t too bad and also takes account of the fact that daylight hours will still be limited.Â
Walk starts: 6pm
Meet at:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The Norman Knight, Whichford, in time to set off promptly.
Distance:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â About 2.5 miles (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes).
The route takes us up the meadow towards Whichford Wood and through some fields to meet the track where we turn left to reach the road. A few hundred yards up the road we turn off and descend through fields to Ascott. We would normally follow pathways through the fields at Ascott to return to Whichford but they are just too muddy at the moment, especially around gateways, so instead we’ll take the (quiet) road back to The Norman Knight. This is a pretty walk with lovely views going down to Ascott.
I’m sure I don’t need to remind everyone that unless things miraculously dry up everywhere will be quite wet and there will be some muddy sections so stout boots needed.
If you would like to join the walk, please let Elizabeth know (e_searle@btinternet.com) by midday on Wednesday, 3rd April, whether you intend to join the walk and, if so, whether you wish to stay and eat at the pub.Â
